You might not immediately think of an influential metal singer switching to country, but that's exactly what Aaron Lewis did. Somehow being successful as both a metal singer and a country singer, Aaron Lewis provides an intimate live experience that fans have come to enjoy. In 2010, Lewis stepped out of Staind to focus on his solo career pursuing country music. Though Staind continues to perform for audiences and write music from time-to-time, Lewis is primarily focused on his solo career.
Just A Country Boy
Born on April 13, 1972, in Vermont, Lewis would eventually travel to Massachusetts with his father. It was in 1993 that he met Mike Mushok at a Christmas party. Eventually, Mushok would bring in Jon Wysocki, and Lewis would bring in Johnny April to form the band Staind in 1995. Outside of Staind, Lewis began to grow interested in country music. He has since devoted much of his time to writing country songs and making country albums for his fans. Lewis spent a good deal of his childhood hunting and connects deeply with the rural side of the country. His plunge into country music was an attempt to reconnect to that side of himself. He's also collaborated with a number of other musical artists. Among those is Linkin Park for its remix of "Crawling." He's also collaborated with the band Cold on its songs "Bleed" and "Send in the Clowns." Besides building bridges between heavy metal and country music, Aaron Lewis also contributes to charity. He's deeply involved in raising money for schools to invest in their music departments. He also helps his wife run a non-profit organization called It Takes a Community, which helps to rebuild schools.
