That being said, when it comes to standout exhibitions on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football schedule, the team's game on September 11th, 2010, against the Towson Tigers certainly was memorable. This game followed a loss to West Virginia, and it was the Chanticleers' opportunity to turn it all around. At the end of the fourth quarter, the teams managed to tie the exhibition at 21-21 so that the game was forced into overtime. After this first overtime, once again the game was tied at 24-24, which required another overtime extension. By the time all was said and done, there were five overtimes in total, and Towson took home the victory with a score of 47-45.

Over the course of the Division I team’s history, several football players of various positions have gone on to play in the NFL. For example, one of the first players to be drafted was Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen was a quarterback for the Chanticleers and went on to play for the Minnesota Vikings. After Tyler, Jerome Simpson went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals and served as the wide receiver. Next, in 2012, Josh Norman went to play for the Carolina Panthers. He served as the defensive back for this team. Another Chanticleer wide receiver by the name of Matt Hazel went on to play for the famous Miami Dolphins in 2014, and his teammate, Lorenzo Tallaferro also went to play as a running back for the Baltimore Ravens that same year. Finally, De’Angelo Henderson was drafted as a running back for the Denver Broncos in 2017.
