Kacey Lee Musgraves was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and grew up in the nearby town of Golden, where she started writing songs at eight years old. She learned the mandolin first, picked up guitar at 12, and spent her teenage years singing western swing at local festivals. By 1999 she had formed the duo Texas Two Bits and released an independent album, and she later won national yodeling championships before placing seventh on the fifth season of Nashville Star in 2007.
Musgraves signed with Mercury Nashville in 2012 and released "Merry Go 'Round," the first single from her major-label debut, Same Trailer Different Park (2013). The album won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album and made her name as a plainspoken, detail-driven songwriter. Pageant Material (2015) debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, and 2018's Golden Hour became the high point of her career so far, taking Album of the Year at the 61st Grammy Awards.
Her sound has widened steadily since, and demand for Kacey Musgraves tickets has followed her crossover from country into pop and festival lineups. Star-Crossed (2021) became her fourth top-ten album on the Billboard 200, Deeper Well (2024) peaked at number two, and her 2023 duet with Zach Bryan, "I Remember Everything," reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
