About Koe Wetzel

Koe Wetzel grew up in Pittsburg, Texas, with music woven into his childhood from the start. His mother was a touring country singer who brought him along on the road, and one of his given names pays tribute to outlaw country songwriter David Allan Coe. He first stepped on stage at age six. After a stint playing linebacker at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, Wetzel chose music over football and formed Koe Wetzel and the Konvicts, self-releasing an EP and a full-length album before the project caught fire with college crowds across the state.

Noise Complaint, released in 2016, became his breakout record, building a grassroots following among college students and young adults drawn to his raw, genre-defying sound. Harold Saul High followed in 2019 and landed in the top 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart while reaching number 65 on the Billboard 200. That momentum led to a deal with Columbia Records and the release of Sellout in 2020, an album that earned RIAA Gold certification. Hell Paso arrived in 2022, climbing to number 12 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on Top Country Albums. His 2024 album 9 Lives continued the trajectory, peaking at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and earning Gold certification, while The Night Champion followed in 2026.

Wetzel's sound sits at the intersection of country, rock, and grunge. He has described his music as "90s country meets early 2000s punk rock with early '90s grunge and hip-hop in the background," drawing from influences that range from Nirvana to classic country. That collision of genres, paired with lyrics that lean unapologetically explicit, is what sets Koe Wetzel tickets apart from a typical country concert. His live shows carry the intensity of a rock set with the storytelling of country, and his fanbase reflects that crossover energy.

His crowds tend to bring rowdy, high-energy participation, matching the intensity of his genre-blending sets. The community grew organically from university campuses and small Texas venues before scaling to larger rooms and festival stages.
