Megan Moroney, born October 9, 1997, in Savannah, Georgia, grew up in a musical household in Douglasville, just west of Atlanta. Country music was the soundtrack of her childhood, she learned piano early, and she carried that foundation to the University of Georgia in Athens, where she studied marketing, earned a certificate in music business, and graduated in 2020. While still in school she opened a show for Jon Langston and interned for Kristian Bush of Sugarland, the kind of behind-the-scenes start that later paid off in Nashville.
Her first single, "Wonder," arrived in 2021, and the EP Pistol Made of Roses followed in 2022, with the track "Hair Salon" earning her first real attention. The true turning point came with "Tennessee Orange" later that year. Produced by Bush, the song caught fire through online streaming, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, and climbed to number 10 on Hot Country Songs on its way to 5x Platinum certification. The streaming surge led to a record deal with Sony Music, and her debut album, Lucky, followed in May 2023, reaching the top 40 of the Billboard 200 and earning recognition as the best country and Americana album of 2023 from Rolling Stone.
From there the ascent only steepened. Her second album, Am I Okay?, debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 in July 2024, and its singles, "Am I Okay?" and "No Caller ID," both reached the Hot 100. She took the album across North America on the Am I Okay? Tour, which ran from Montreal in March 2025 to Tampa in October 2025, and in February 2026 her third album, Cloud 9, became her first to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. She writes and co-writes all of her own music, and her collaborators include Old Dominion, Kenny Chesney, Ed Sheeran, and Kacey Musgraves.
