Oklahoma Sooners Football in Norman tickets

Few programs in college football carry the weight of the Oklahoma Sooners. The team played its first game in 1895, a dozen years before Oklahoma became a state, and it has been stacking milestones ever since: seven claimed national championships, 50 conference titles (the most of any current FBS program), and seven Heisman Trophy winners. Since 2024 the Sooners have competed in the Southeastern Conference, where the Red River Rivalry against the Texas Longhorns rolls around every fall.

The Sooners' history doubles as a tour of the sport's great eras. Bud Wilkinson turned Norman into a dynasty in the 1950s, winning three national championships and a Division I record 47 consecutive games between 1953 and 1957. Barry Switzer's wishbone teams of the 1970s and 1980s added three more titles behind a relentless option attack that still holds the FBS single-season record for rushing yards per game. Bob Stoops arrived in 1999 and delivered the seventh championship in 2000, finishing 13-0. Four different Oklahoma coaches have won more than 100 games each, the only program in the country that can make that claim.

Saturdays in Norman center on Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, the 80,126-seat landmark known as the Palace on the Prairie. The Sooners have played on Owen Field since the stadium opened in 1923 with room for just 500 fans, and more than a century of expansion later it stands among college football's great cathedrals. The pageantry is unmistakably Oklahoman: crimson and cream filling the stands, the Sooner Schooner rolling across the field behind two white ponies named Boomer and Sooner, and the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band, founded in 1904 and the largest student organization on campus, striking up Boomer Sooner after every touchdown. Oklahoma Sooners tickets put you in the middle of all of it.
