Prior to his coaching career, Enfield gained on-court experience during four seasons at Johns Hopkins, with a total of 2,025 career points under his belt. Enfield set the NCAA career free throw percentage record, hitting a total of 431 of his 466 free throw attempts. Enfield’s coaching career launched in 1994 in the NBA as the Milwaukee Bucks shooting coach. After two seasons, he moved on to a role as assistant coach for the Boston Celtics for two seasons. During his time as the Florida State Seminoles' assistant coach in 2009, Enfield was named one of the "five super assistant coaches in college basketball" by ESPN The Magazine.
