North Carolina State Wolfpack Schedule in 2013-14

Each year as the college basketball season heats up PNC Arena the Raleigh, North Carolina home of the North Carolina State Wolfpack's basketball team is one of the most exciting places in the world to be. For years the Wolfpack have established themselves as one of the premiere teams in the ACC and are regularly a major factor in the NCAA Tournament in March. The Wolfpack's schedule is packed with games against some of the best college basketball teams in the country and no college basketball fan will want to miss a second of the action at PNC Arena. The Wolfpack are poised to make a return to prominence this year so get in on the excitement right from the start.

On February 11th in state rivals the Wake Forest Demon Deacons come to PNC Arena to renew a rivalry that has existed for years and also provided some of the most thrilling games in the NCAA. A couple of weeks later on the 26th the North Carolina Tar Heels will be in town bringing their highly touted young stars but the Wolfpack will be more than adequately prepared to pull of a big upset. These games are annually some of the most exciting of the entire college basketball season and you will not want to miss out on the opportunity to be in the stands.

On March 9th the Wolfpack will close out their home schedule with a matchup against the Boston College Eagles. The Eagles will look to soar into the arena and leave with a victory, but NC State is not going to let that happen easily. The Wolfpack will look to play tough defense and let their crowd propel them to a victory in this contest. The crowd is always a little extra excited for the last home game of the season, and 2013-14 should be no different. Join the biggest fans of this team for the last home game of the season and see if the Wolfpack can ground the Eagles.


North Carolina State Wolfpack History

The North Carolina State Wolfpack basketball program dates all the way to the year 1910, and in more than a century of playing games this program has left its fans with many a memorable season. The Wolfpack have had some great moments over the years, but one stands above the rest. The North Carolina State Wolfpack won the National Championship in 1983 when they scored an improbable victory over the heavily favored Houston Cougars team that featured two future NBA Hall of Famers, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. The Wolfpack's coach at the time was Jim Valvano, the legendary and inspirational coach who passed away from cancer in 1993, but was instrumental in the formation of Coaches for Cancer and preseason basketball tournaments organized to raise money to battle cancer. A charity, The Jimmy V Foundation was named in his honor.

The answer is 1954, when NC State left the Southern Conference, a league in which the Wolfpack had captured seven conference titles.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack have seen a lot of great players suit up for the team over the years. One of the best players to ever hit the floor of North Carolina State was David Thompson. Thompson left fans of the Wolfpack with plenty of memorable moments before moving on to play at the next level in the National Basketball Association. Thompson put together one heck of a pro career as well, averaging more than 22 points per game for his career. Other notable North Carolina State players include Tom Gugliotta, Vinny Del Negro and Julius Hodge. See who the next great NC State player will be by heading so some home games this season.

Fans of the North Carolina State Wolfpack love showing up at the arena for home games, especially when they're attending a rivalry game. The North Carolina State Wolfpack are always looking to take down some of the powerhouse programs in the conference like Duke or North Carolina, and in recent years, as the Wolfpack have proven themselves to be regular contenders for the conference title, the intensity of these games has reached another level. Of course another major rival of the Wolfpack is the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons, and whether the two schools are facing off on the football field or the basketball court you can expect the rivalry to bring out the best from both sides. With all of the new schools joining the ACC this year and next there will certainly be new rivalries on the rise in the conference. Get out to see a rivalry game in person and you'll see all that college basketball is capable of.
