Doja Cat Montréal tickets

Born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini in Los Angeles, California, Doja Cat grew up between coasts and subcultures before finding her voice online. She spent her early childhood in Rye, New York, then returned to California, where she took breakdancing classes, joined a professional poplocking troupe, and competed in dance battles across Los Angeles as a teenager. After dropping out of high school at 16, she taught herself to sing, rap, and produce using GarageBand, uploading tracks to SoundCloud that caught the attention of producers in the LA underground hip-hop scene. By 17, she had signed with Kemosabe Records, an imprint of RCA Records.

Doja Cat released her debut EP, Purrr!, in 2014, followed by her first studio album, Amala, in 2018. That same year, her homemade music video for "Mooo!" went viral as an internet meme, proving her ability to cut through the noise with humor and originality. Her second album, Hot Pink (2019), peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 and produced "Say So," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 after a remix featuring Nicki Minaj became the first female rap collaboration to reach number one on the chart.

Her third album, Planet Her (2021), delivered a string of top-ten hits, including "Kiss Me More" featuring SZA, "Need to Know," and "Woman." "Kiss Me More" won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 64th Grammy Awards. Doja Cat closed 2021 as the bestselling female R&B and hip-hop artist in the United States. Her fourth album, Scarlet (2023), leaned into a harder, hip-hop-driven sound and spawned "Paint the Town Red," her second solo number-one single in the US and UK and the first rap song to top the Billboard Global Excl. US chart. She followed it with The Scarlet Tour (2023 to 2024), her first arena tour, with Doechii and Ice Spice as supporting acts. Her fifth album, Vie (2025), marked a return to her pop roots with an eclectic mix of R&B, funk, new jack swing, and hip-hop, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200.
